Max reputation is not just a number — each settlement unlocks a concrete reward, from legendary mercenaries to extra inventory slots. This table compiles all 17 settlements from the community's reputation guides. For the grinding mechanics themselves, see our reputation grinding guide.

Which to grind first
- Legendary mercenaries first — Miningham (Gimli), Redrage (Father Redserker + White Nightmare), and Wildshire (Barbar) permanently change your party's ceiling. See our legendary mercenaries guide.
- Slot expansions second — Sawmillstead (+5 scroll slots) and Grubgrog Village (+5 food slots) pay off on every single run.
- Stat books third — the three Watchmansham books are strong but incremental.
How reputation actually goes up
- Sell goods matching the settlement's demand type (domestic / industrial / military / neutral — see goods demand explained).
- Do villager quests — worth 1,000–3,500 reputation points each.
- Exploit (may be patched): buying goods in a settlement and selling them back in the same settlement also raises reputation. Community-flagged as a loophole, so don't build a long-term plan around it.
