All Legendary Mercenaries: Where to Find Them & How to Unlock

Legendary mercenaries are the strongest hires in the game, and most of them are locked behind settlement reputation or specific questlines. This is the full community-compiled list. Reputation requirements are covered in our settlement reputation rewards guide.
Duncan Sanders (Grampstead) — the chicken questline
The most involved unlock in the game, and it starts with a chicken:
- Recruit Dun Dun, the chicken, in Grampstead.
- A quest asks you to give Dun Dun an axe.
- Travel with 120 chicken eggs until you encounter Knight Eggo on the road.
- Defeat Knight Eggo — Dun Dun transforms into a human.
- Dun Dun leaves the party; return to Grampstead and talk to him to receive the legendary Duncan Sanders (bonus damage against beasts, high AoE damage).
Warning: when Dun Dun transforms, his levels reset to zero — you retrain him from scratch.

Epic picks worth the detour
- Military Horse (Fortsville) — epic pack animal from max military reputation.
- Bear cub / Claw (Fishpool / Riverbend area) — community-recommended epic beast.
- Executioner (Banditshire) — community-recommended epic mercenary.
The rare one: Cluckingtown's chicken squad
Max reputation in Cluckingtown unlocks the rare chicken squad — three chickens carrying sword, bow, and shield. Gimmicky, but collectors want it.
