How to Beat Throatcrusher (Snow Mountain Boss)

On this page
Throatcrusher is the snow mountain boss that stops most players cold — roughly 12,000 HP and damage that wipes unprepared parties in seconds. Multiple community members have beaten it; this guide combines their proven setups.
Before the fight: the checklist that matters most
- Empty your wagon. Danger level — and with it the boss's effective strength — scales with carried goods. Players who failed repeatedly succeeded after dropping cargo.
- Fight in daylight. Several reports suggest daytime fights are easier.
- Sell goods for the dealer bonus first. The extra gold and bonus help.
- Set combat speed to x1, not x3. This single change was reported as a "total game changer" — one player killed the boss on the first try after switching.
Proven team comp #1: 2 Bigfoots + 3 Legendary Zerkers
Reported by community member Sinaean:
| Merc | Scrolls |
|---|---|
| Bigfoot x2 | Redirection scroll + beast-damage scroll |
| Legendary Zerkers x3 | Beast-damage scroll + damage scroll |
- Food: everyone eats Shawarma before the fight.
- Tactics: Protect, Target Dummy, Attack, Big Loud (Nom also works in place of Big Loud).
Proven team comp #2: Barbar + Redzerker + Bigfoots
Reported by RacoonDog94 after the x1-speed discovery:
- Mercs: Barbar, Redzerker Father, BigFoot, BigFoot Hauler
- Scrolls: Bigfoots get beast-damage + redirection; everyone else beast-damage + food-effectiveness
- Skills: Protect, Attack, Target Dummy (level 3), Big Loud
- Talents: all maxed
- Food: Shawarma for everyone
Two warnings from the community
- Barbar was nerfed. The old strategy of a level-10 Barbar with a high beast-damage scroll (reaching around 600 damage per hit) was confirmed by the developer as the pre-nerf state — beast-damage bonuses were cut from 50 percent to 25 percent. Older videos may be outdated.
- Boss level follows road danger. The boss's level scales with the difficulty of the road you arrive on — arrive through the lowest-danger route you can.
Results reported by players
- Sinaean: full clear with the Bigfoot/Zerker comp.
- RacoonDog94: first-try kill after switching to x1 speed.
- Ackadia: best run took the boss from 12,000 HP down to 2,800 with all-legendary, Shawarma-buffed, Hunter-scroll-equipped mercs — "RNG almost certainly applies."
